For those that use a 9mm PCC with a can for home defense, what ammo do you prefer? Subs or Supers? HP or FMJ? Seems most heavier Sub rounds are all FMJ's (150 gr+). Will 147 gr. HP (HST, Gold Dot, Golden Saber, etc.) stay at Sub velocity in a shorter barrel? I'm probably going to use my SP5k-PDW for home defense now that I just got my R9 approved.
I've been thinking about giving the G9 126gr Subsonics a go. I hear their normal 80gr 9mm is pretty fantastic, so I wonder how the 126gr does. Just rather expensive.
Except for the APC9-SD, where I run 124gr+p Gold Dots (my pistol carry ammo). The 147's slow down too much in the SD, something like 700fps. The 124+p's hover right around 1000fps.
Standard pressure HST for factory ammo. I have had some of my handloads go supersonic in the winter from even an 8" barrel using slow powder like N350 or BE-86. Those loads were doing 1050fps from a 4" handgun and mimic 147gr HST +P at standard pressures.
