I've taught HS math for 20+ years in private schools.
Saxon is good for younger grades, but goes off the rails with the 8/7 and 7/6 books. it's way too much, like algebra 2 level or higher content.
the singapore math that has been adapted to the US market is pretty good, called Math in Focus. It teaches appropriate computation and concepts, and how to use math as a tool of reason.
