Very cool.  I love the case shapes from that era.  I'm also admittedly a sucker for expansion bracelets.

@Amos_Moses man of the cloth

I have that watch on the way. I can't wait to get it. Thoughts? I can't seem to find any negative reviews.

@acegunner

I too read a bunch on it, albeit after I bought it. Ha. I think I got it off the EE even! I jumped at it when I saw it and lucked into what a fantastic piece it is.

It’s got a great movement with hacking (I think it’s hacking when the second hand stops when you pull the crown all the way out…either way it does stop, making it easier to set). It’s just a great size and isn’t too thick. I have just over 7 1/2” wrists. Plus I generally only get watches with day and date complications on them anymore, so it’s pretty dang perfect. I find myself wearing it more than anything else in my modest collection.

Also, two people have mistaken it (at a distance) for a watch MUCH more expensive brand that starts with an R… ha! One guy even wears one.

I’m certain you’ll love it.

Yes.

On this particular rifle I swap barrels between .308 and 6.5 Creedmoor.

R/watches hates my “fashion” watch. They are more Watch Elitist vs Watch Enthusiasts.

Porsche Design Model 1, their first in house watch except for the 7750 Movement. PD is working on making their own movement.

Sharp looking watch.

I’ve been a big fan of Porsche Design since the early 80’s.  I really, really like their older collaborations with IWC and their innovative use of titanium.  The carryover of the clean, legible, utilitarian design seen with the Porsche Design Ocean 2000 and Titan chronograph is clearly seen today.

I’ve been pretty much done with collecting watches but if I ever come across clean examples of these two, I’d probably pick them up just for their historical significance:

PD Titan Chronograph

PD Ocean 2000

Lineage of PD divers

CWC ROYAL NAVY DIVER ISSUE SPEC (QM60) RN300-MT

I love this watch, but the fixed bars make straps other than NATO difficult to find.  Not everyone makes open ended straps and I'm constantly looking....if you know of anyone carrying them, please let me know.

The REAL James Bond watch....lol....

Love the CWC divers. Been wanting one for a while. Check out Erika’s Original straps! They make one for fixed bars. They’re great! I’ve got them for several of my watches

New watch day! I've really been looking forward to this! I was working down the street and it said delivered, so I had to come straight home to check it out I just took it immediately to the Jeweler down the street and had it sized for $6. It's now fitted less than an hour after I opened the box. I couldn't wait! I'm sure y'all understand

Sharp.

I like watches where the minute and seconds hands extend out to the minute indices.

A week or two ago I switched from the Sharkhunter to a Squale.
I’m very happy DOXA was reborn.  They had a serious role late in the golden age of divers but were crushed by the quartz crisis.
 Squale has some legitimate vintage dive watch history, and while their models are often derivative are and not original, they are a fantastic price point and bang for the buck in auto divers.

I’m walking the dogs longer because - while I thought I was kicking ass and taking names until around 52, the three years after that were followed by 25 pounds of gut and not enough working out.  Followed by a torn hernia when I was working out hard again, then I’ve just finished PT on my hip, and about to start on my shoulder.  So I’m going to increase walking as a stop gap. Because I’ve spent a handful of years not having luck working out hard.   I’m ready to get some Velcro new balance shoes, start looking for 4:30PM dinner specials, etc. I guess now.

The Aussie is still infatuated with the Malinois, the black GSD still in honey moon phase with us, etc.

With more frequent walks around the full border of the property, they are finding more sticks to play with.  Both the non-moving and moving kind.

Then they got to hop in for a ride and we hit a rural used book shop in the garage of a home that has new stock come in every handful of weeks.  I have about 8 bookshelves/cabinets full and most books for the past dozen years have been kindle on an iPad.  So I limit it to a few hardcovers now and the.  Every book they sell is under five bucks, and I’ll occasionally find some stuff that sells for far more if I go looking for it.  I sat down by the pool to read and this was a surprise.

I read it decades ago, when all my military time had been pretty black and white, before I had a role in many, many things in the gray. So gray that it could be very hard to tell from black sometimes. I like re-reading things I have read at much younger ages as my take can change drastically.

Now, sometimes I end up with a library copy, or an no dust jacket one, and slip up with a paperback here and there,

but some pretty good scores pop up.

While you can get on the internet and order things, and pay to get immediately, sometimes the thrill of randomly stopping at a shop and finding just the right gun, watch, book, etc. At a great price is more fun than having it.
