got myself a Taurus 327 federal Magnum, mainly for its ability to chamber multiple calibers which I find useful, but those who shoot the 327 federal or 32 h&r Magnum, how would you stack it against say 38 or 357 Magnum? or even mm as far as performance, accuracy, reliability for stopping a potential threat etc? I got a box of Hornady 80gr I believe xtp or ftx, whichever has the red polymer insert in the nose. and got a box of pmc bronze 32 acp as I've also seen it can run 32 acp in a pinch, but that's just more for plinking use.

who would or wouldn't trust their life to a 327 federal Magnum?

I think that it's a good performing caliber but is relegated to share a place in history with the .45 GAP, .357 SIG, .30 Super Carry, etc.

I bought a Ruger LCRx and an SP101 in .327 this year.  32 S&W ammo is very mild.  32 H&R is not bad either.

Only fired a few cylinders of real deal .327 and it is stout.

.327 brass was backordered at starline for a few months but I am set now.  I've been loading relatively light loads, 4 grains TG with a 78 grain LRN and 3 grins TG with a 98 grain WC.

Good accuracy overall.  Not sure I would carry it in favor of a .38 snubby or .380 auto, but possible.

I like oddball calibers (10mm revolvers, .41 mag), that's why I bought them.

Well another reason I got this thing too was to have something My lady can shoot, sh hasn't much experience shooting handguns and has wrist issues in her left wrist from a past injury and cant operate many slides on smi autos. sh is also recoil sensitive, so I figured this would be a good way to ladder her up from 32 acp and then up to 327 mag, and once sh is confident and comfortable with that then move onto others. but that's 4-5 calibers she can work through all on one platform, plus its something shee could carry as well regularly. i have been carrying it myself too and have found 327 federal and 32 hr mag ammo regularly.

I would not count on 32 acp for defense.there are reports of inconsistent headspace .  Try it at the range and see.

32 H&R should be fine for a recoil sensitive shooter.

I did the same thing- my former significant other and her aunt both had a 32 smith and Wesson long HR 732 pistol.
I found some 32 SW long mag safe frangible  for the pistols. I upgraded the SO to a Taurus 9mm and the aunt to a Taurus 327 loaded with magtech for practice and 327 federal Hydro shock for household (country use). The 82 year old aunt finally could not pull the trigger on the 327 and gave it back last year

A little late to this party, but I would have no issue carrying .32 H&R or .327 Mag for SD.  Even a .32 S&W Long Wadcutter.  But I usually carry 5-6 shot revolvers as back-up guns. As I prefer my primary gun to have at least 8 rounds in it.  There's plenty of ballistic gel videos you can watch on YT that show these calibers performing in the 12"-18" penetration range.  Just pick the right ammo.

I have some Double Tap .327 mag ammo I tried out on my Ruger LCR.  I didn't find the recoil too bad and would carry that if carrying the Ruger.

327 FED MAG 60GR DT LEAD FREE™ SC-HP

Velocity: 1800fps / 431 ft/lbs - 5.5" bbl
Bullet: 60gr. DT LEAD FREE

I finally found the new S&W 432UC in .32 H&R.  I plan to start carrying that as my back-up gun once it comes into my FFL & can pick it up.

And if you watch any Gun Sam video's on YT (does ballistic testing), he carries a Ruger .32 as his CCW.

My wife carries a titanium S&W in 32 H&R magnum.  She easily shoots it.  6 shots of 98 gr. HP going 1000 FPS is pretty decent protection.  Continuing my .312 trend, I just bought her a S&W Shield Plus in 30 Super Carry.  These little guns are selling for $299, which is a smoking deal, and the cartridge really has a lot to offer.

The 30 SC is based on the 327 Magnum, from what I've read.  I think these rounds, just slightly less powerful than their counterparts (32 mag to 38 spl, 327 to 357, 30 SC to 9mm), have much to offer recoil sensitive shooters.  Hell, I'd carry the Shield+ in 30 SC in a heart beat.  It's just barely shy of 9mm ballistics and carries a couple extra rounds.  It actually out penetrates 9mm in the popular defensive loadings by an inch and, as we know, putting a decent slug into the vitals is what stops a fight.  In a revolver, being able to go from 32 SW Long to HR Mag up to the 327 magnum makes one helluva versatile sidearm, from the field to the streets!  I believe there's plenty of room for the 32s, just as there has been for the last 150 years!

Since 1988 I've wanted either a Single Six or Smith M16 in .32 H&R.  Recently been looking for a .327 Single Seven but I'm using it for small game.  Last year came across a great deal on a Ruger 4 5/8" Single Six fixed sights.  So, while deployed ordered a Lee 2 cav 90 gr .314" (also for galley loads for dated 1895 MLE .303).  Got brass for .32 ACP, .32 S&W, .32 S&W Long and .32 H&R.  Used my Lee .32 ACP dies (been reloading this ctg for decades) and used Lee .223 shell holder to load Long cases.  Accuracy with ACP isn't great but Long is.  Haven't loaded any S&W or H&R cases yet.  That will have to wait till next leave.  I like my combo for my needs.
