I can only really find 5 round mags for my savage 110 tactical in 300WM.
Since one of those options are pmags, I figured I can design and 3d print extensions if need be. Then I thought about a drum mag for it. Then my next thought is burning that much ammo that fast and I'll have poi shift. Am I over thinking this, or did I discover my next fun CAD project? |

10 rounds get things plenty hot. It's best to let it cool off a bit after that. 5 and 5 is the same as 10 rounds and you don't have a big mag hanging down.

I had to modify pmags to get them to lock into my savage 10ba in 308. Both the 5 and 10rnd mags

My precision rifle uses 10 round magazines.

America is at that awkward stage, it’s too late to work within the system, but too early to shoot the bastards....Claire Wolfe

If it's an AICS footprint for mags you can get 10 round 300WM magazines which is more than enough. I used them for years in my 300WM for matches. A drum is ridiculous with a magnum. You will be changing barrels before you change magazines shooting it that fast.

I run a big magnum bolt gun(300RUM), it uses the 5 rd accurate mag 3.850" CIP mags, 5 at a time is fine, changing mags is fast and easy....Plus, by the 5th rd, you are going to want to cool the barrel anyway..they are a bit expensive for 30" Bartlein barrels......Besides, its a bolt action, you can likely single feed it just as fast if you needed to at least when in a static setting...

AW AICS mags are the way to cram lots of rounds in a small form factor

I'm all for magpul making a .223/5.56 family AICS mag.
50 bucks for a ruger 350L AICS mag hurts. |

Just got my 5rd pmags in for the 300wm.
I would say OAL of 3.52ish if you want reliable feeding. Mag measures 3.58. I may end up with mdt if my loads I build up dictate longer OAL. |

Got back home last night. I put in a mag, and it is too short. It fits in, but the pmag is rounded by the bullet side and lacks the square "shelf" that stops the mag from going too far into the action. They mag is also shorter.
I should be able to 3d print some adapters pretty easy. And to reaffirm, if you want to load past standard oal, you will need the mdt mags. |
