It doesn’t fit with the color scheme but it does a much better job than the original oil bath filter.

Aw32 tractor fluid is not an acceptable substitute for amg10 fluid. 5606 however is.

I need to force myself to go  back in the brdm and put the hull plugs and other stuff back together but I have no desire in the nasty, cold weather.

Time to insulate the shop and get one of those waste oil heaters installed.

Whew!  Glad I'm working every weekend now, instead of just 1 a month!

More seriously, if you ever work on it during the week, give me a call, be happy to hand you wrenches while you're upside down in that thing.

Some of those issues are easily addressed. Some are not.

The trans leak will be a pain to deal with. The rest are not hard, just need time.

All 4 wheel stations are apart. Front and rear left side are leaking at the axle and differential input shaft and along the knuckle.

Since Russia is out of the picture for parts, time to get on the phone with the Bulgarians and get some parts coming.

Since the russian source I had has gone silent "It is not safe to talk anymore" I've had to find alternate parts sources.

Working on a Polish guy who comes well recommended.

It's next to impossible to get the marker flares so I might make this vehicle up to be a replica of this BRDM2 RKHB in use by the Ukrainian TDF.

Nothing recently.

The front left axle has a leak and about a year ago before the war started  I ordered 8 seals from my guy in Moscow. Those seals are part of what we need but need some others also.

More work is going on with the Roland since that’s the primary focus right now

Did some minor cosmetic work. Reinstalled the gas can carrier.

Cleaned off the floor plates to re-install tomorrow. They were caked with dirt and dust from sitting there on the shelf for the last 2 years since I took them all out in the summer of 2021. It's about time I dragged myself to get them back in.

I had them on/in a Mustang I built and the straw that nearly broke my back as I smashed every part of my body on an 8.8 coming out was sticking my hand in a web and seeing it crawl on me....after that I went all in on eradication lol. I used  a shop vac on every inch of everything. Last year I was sitting at my bench and felt something crawl on my foot and looked down and it was a wolf spider that was at least 400 pounds and 6 feet wide. It got the torch treatment lol.

The shop looks like a hoarder's house right now. There's 5 different projects cluttering 1500 sq feet. 12 44" AFV tires. the BRDM2. The roland. Parts for the roland strewn about. A gantry crane inside. 500 pounds of once fired brass.

In 4-6 months when both vehicles are mobile I'll get everything out and clean it and put in the insulation.

We have a bunch of wolf spiders that live in and around the shop. When I find them inside I gently coax them onto my hand and place them outside. Never, ever kill when it's not necessary-even creepy crawly animals like big ol' wood spiders.

I know that is the proper way and here at work I have folks do it but I have a pathological fear and try to overcome it. I can pickup daddy long legs but that is as far as I have gotten. And I have shop envy btw

When I was first building the shop I thought "Wow, I can fit so much in here! I'll never fill it up!"

Then I added the BRDM. The roland. Then a couch. Then my wife started stuffing stuff in there and I laid parts out from disassembled assemblies and vehicles. It got crowded fast. It looked so big when it was a skeleton structure and a concrete slab. It's way better than the storage unit we used to have.

I have plans to add 5-6 more vehicles and I think I can fit them all in there. Grenadier, Ferret, 1151 HMMWV, m932/931/1088, AML60.

When I move to the ranch I will build an 80x-100 shop with an 8" thick slab and move everything out there and never have to worry about space again

I want a legit shop so bad. My house has about 2.5 acres but on a mountain slope so unless I pay the big bucks to have trees and Earth removed I'm stuck with 2 lathes and 2 mills and my wifes old piano taking up all my work room lol.

Mountains? In Alabama?

It’s 100% worth it to have a shop. Seriously. It’ll be a pain early on but in the long run it’s worth it. Level it and knock down some trees. Do it Yourself. But it is worth every cent. My biggest regret is I didn’t go for a 40x60.

You need your own space to just exist in peace and quiet and do mindless tasks. That’s how I stay sane in an insane world.

I call the shop my “nothing box”.

Well Alabama Mountains lol...Can't really see them from space but this is me tucked away in the woods. Behind my house is about 100' climb with trees. Having a shop is my life dream.
