So I bought this used as a complete rifle. It had a 16" AP barrel. The previous owner installed a Springco Orange spring and KAK LR-308 Carbine Heavy Buffer. He told me it shot soft but I never fired it.
After buying I purchased a 13.9" Faxon Big Gunner barrel to shave a bunch of weight off the front.
When I replaced the barrel I swapped to an Aero Precision adjustable gas block.
I've been collecting various ammo and have 1k+ rounds of everything from Wolf steel case to Federal Gold Medal Match. I'm ready to put it to work.
Is having the heavy buffer and extra power spring going to negate the advantages of having an adjustable gas block? Should I swap either the buffer or the spring? Thoughts?
I've only had one other AR10, and it was a Maga Maten that was bought complete and I never swapped anything out. I've assembled dozens of AR15's without issues, but have read AR10's are a little more finicky.
I don't have much down time. So when I go shoot I would like to have the best chance possible for functioning, or at least have the extra parts I may need with me. Plus at .75 to $1.50 a round, I'd rather not blow through a bunch trying to get it to run if I can help it.
