Put this one together today. Brownell's 11.5", 1/12" CL'd barrel that I pinned and welded a TNTE 5.5" moderator/FH onto. The upper is a Luth C7, sourced from Brownell's as well. The Lower receiver is an H&R Commando, H&R buttstock, etc. Nice and light. I'll try to get out and run some rounds through it tomorrow!

That looks good!  I want a retro AR.

I have a couple of SBR'ed lowers, from the free SBR stamp deal but are a2's.  I might just do this and call it good.

Yeah, I have a few stamps, including an SBR. But I didn't feel like jumping through the hoops on this build. Maybe the next one I'll SBR and leave as an 11.5".

How does the balance feel on it? I have the same barrel and faux moderator for my GAU clone out for pin and cerakote and wondered if it would be really front heavy? I figured the aluminum stock would even it out some.

Feels good to me, but that is probably because it is a lot lighter than all of my other ARs. Maybe a tad muzzle heavy, but once a loaded mag is in it, that will change the feel a lot more than the moderator.

That's a beautiful build.

Nice! Reminds me the gun from The Postman movie

Looks like fun.

While I have a lot of respect for the guys who build totally clone-correct rifles, I like those Retro-look/inspired rifles too.

I've never noticed what appears to be a set screw on your receiver extension nut in the 2nd picture, is it?

Nope. Standard old-style lock ring/castle nut.
