Advice for buying from MGs individual or unknown dealer?

As expensive as MGs are, and if one can’t find what they want at a well known dealer, what steps can provide assurance for the buyer? Thanks in advance.

Back when I did that I would get a copy of the form.  Only make check out to person and address on form. At prices there going for today I would travel to inspect.
