I’m trying to find the best option for a bufferless pistol in 300 BLK to run suppressed. I like the MCX Rattler, but understand that it has terrible gas blowback unless a flow through suppressor is used. I have two traditional .30 cans and have no intention of buying a third. Does anyone have recommendations for something with a 10” or less barrel that would fit my needs?

I went bolt action.

Any gas system will leave you with breathing issues.

Thanks. Honestly, part of my motivation is that the Colorado legislature will be putting up a bill to ban “assault weapons” for the second year in a row, and given the fact that our state has been inundated by commies from California and Illinois I’m afraid it’ll pass. For that reason, I’m focusing on semi-auto options.

My MCXs aren’t bad in the blowback department when suppressed.

What cans do you have?  Frankly, any high backpressure can is going to be gassy on any semi host as most of that blowback is coming down the bore.

Have you heard of site sponsor Brownells™

Their BRN180s is a nice 300blk suppressor host - bufferless, 2-position adjustable gas, smooth action, relatively light & slim upper @ 10.5"
BRN-180s 300blk
BRN-180sh 300blk (3-pos gas w/ shutoff for manual cycling)

I run mine w/ a YHM Resonator-K and by design there's very little gas to the face or out of the bolt. Wish they'd make a shorter barrel version like the Rattler, but this will do for now

Thanks. Yes, I’ve seen this and am leaning towards a BRN 180 or a Sig MCX Spear LT with a 9” barrel.

What's your budget? I've been pining over the B&T APC rifles for a while now

I have a 6.75 inch MCX that I run both supressed and unsuppressed   I like it a lot.  once you "dial in" the ajustable gas (mine came with two plugs, each has two settings) it runs great.   I do want something lighter in weight eventually.

Foxtrot Mike has an interesting one  they recently released in 300 blk.  I have been waiting on reviews to see how it performs in the real world, there were some mixed reviews on the 5.56 version.   Then BAM, they showed up at Shot with some impressive concepts for strengthening ARs in general.  One of the improvements is the gas tube, so that won't translate, but I will hold off to see if any of it leads to a next gereration.  I guess that really doesn't help with wanting to beat the ban.

Psa JAKL is also an option. Might be cheaper than most other semis that can fold. No personal experience with one yet though.

And regardless of choice don’t discount bolt action even if it’s just for funsies.

My order of preference from what I own, Sig TACOPS, B&T APC, bolt action followed by the BRN180. The 9” Sig Spear is on my short list and will probably be my next firearm purchase, I haven’t shot a JAKL yet, but I plan on it.

I think Foxtrot Mike has their newest side charger setup out but I don't know anything about them.

My B&T APC300 is stupid quiet with subs. Fast shooting with a S3g in it too. No gas either.

I recently bought a CMMG Dissent in .45 acp (haven’t shot to yet) it comes in a bunch of other calibers including .300 BO.

The Dissent is also available as a 300BLK upper as well instead of buying a whole gun

Not d16, but i like mine as well.
I have a different host with a full size can for quietest subs...
Mine has an R9, at least for now.

This is with optic, light, railscales etc.  it's not the lightest option but it's a solid option.

I changed it up a little bit after that.

Friend of mine picked up a CMMG dissent, it's pretty sweet.
The rail design is a little funky or me though.

I just bought a CMMG Dissent in .300 but I wouldn’t have an issue buying a JAKL from PSA either since they’ve proven to be 100% when it comes to customer service.
I went with the Dissent because it’s lighter and balances better.
I have a JAKL IN 556 and it’s been awesome.

I also just bought a new 6.5" 300 BLK CMMG Dissent for around $1600 OTD (Good 4 Guns - drop shipper & no tax).  But I haven't tried my cans yet.  It does have an adj. gas.

Thousands through a Rattler using a simple Omega 300 and I have no idea what blowback issues are. Runs great subs and supers on minus gas setting in sub zero and hot weather.

It's the best 300 BLK semi-auto there is.

I just got back from putting a few Subs through my CMMG 6.5" 300 Blk.  No issues with two types of Subs.  And without touching the adj. gas, it ran 100% on the same setting I used for Supers (factory setting).  I also didn't notice any gassing, and I'm a lefty.  So, gas is more likely to affect me than a right-handed shooter.  So far, I'm happy with the performance of this Pistol.  And although CMMG doesn't recommend using a can on these due to lack of bullet stabilization with this short of a barrel, both of my Sub rounds grouped well and didn't seem to be tumbling.  Nor did I have any bullet strikes with my YHM R9 can.
