Little more info…
A statement to parents read as follows: Parents of Lehi High students: Around 11:40 this morning, there was an accident that occurred in the welding shop in the Ag building. All students were removed from the classroom, and there were no student injuries. One of our teachers was injured and has been transported to a hospital. Due to the need for emergency responders to have access, the school was briefly placed in HOLD status, which means that students remained in their classrooms, while classes continued as normal. The HOLD has now been lifted, and students were released for lunch. We have a counseling team that is currently working with students who were in the classroom and witnessed the accident. My understanding is it was an explosion in the welding shop. The welding teacher was badly injured, and at least one student witnessed the incident and is very traumatized. |

eta_ Maybe the teacher was filling a garbage bag with oxy/acetylene and it blew up. It can happen, it's happened to me. |
