1, The mills are so overwhelmed with timber that they aren't buying jack shit. They're still pulling timber out of burn areas and will be for quite some time. The private timber market is pretty much dead in California for a while.
2, unless it's a VERY sizeable property you will barely break even with  the cost of hiring a Licensed Timber Operator to make and submit the harvest plan, access road permits, dust control, sometimes a Registered Professional Forester is required. It's a huge undertaking and very expensive.

Sadly, probably not what you wanted to hear, but I would rather give facts than hopes. I am a California licensed timber operator...one of the businesses I own, and we have better luck selling trees to firewood companies. Most of it, we just grind up into mulch. Far more cost effective.
