It’s just about personal preference.
The QRP2 mount on the Aimpoint PRO is almost between true Co-Witness (red dot in line with iron sights) and Lower 1/3 (which the red dot is above the iron sights).
Some shooters like a true Lower 1/3, which brings the dot higher than the irons sights, and they change the mount to accomplish this, same as others want to get
the RDS to co-witness close as possible. Some don’t like the ratchet-type QRP2 mounting system the Aimpoint PRO uses (the large knob on the side).
Others like the repeatability zero factor (removing the RDS from the rail and re-installing it with the same POI) and warranty/reputation of other manufactures.
The QRP2 mount will remount and still be close to zero POA/POI, but should be re-zeroed. You might get it back to zero after remounting, but doubt it without some adjustments.
I used the PRO mounts on two of my ARs, but changed the mount on another M4ish-style AR just for aesthetics and like the QD factor and true Lower 1/3 of another mount,
even though it’s not a return to zero mount either.
I’m sure the QRP2 mount that comes with the Aimpoint PRO will suit you just fine.
The mount works perfectly well if you have a free-float rail or both front and rear folding BUIS and keep them down until needed.
Also, double check the RDS mount screws when you get your Aimpoint PRO and make sure they are tight or torqued.
Zero your iron sights/BUIS and RDS individually even though they will be close.
If you don’t like it after shooting with it for awhile, change it out with another mount
Hope this helps a little. Others will probably have other reasons.
