I have a very early (serial number 80X) Springfield M1A, with "Devine, Tex" marked under the barrel.
Nice shape, idea on honest value?
Thanks

It could very well be an original Elmer Balance build that depending on other documentation could be in the $2-3K range, IMHO - maybe more?.  The marking being on the barrel would lend credence to that, as it's known that Elmer later sold off stripped receivers that others built into rifles.  There are folks out there who know way more than me, though. Dedicated M1A collectors would shed more light on this.
