Right now, nearly every trail is closed except the fat bike trails.
They aren't called fat bike trails for nothing. Attached File Poor sons of bitches. Looks like they spent more time walking than riding |

I should be able to get a pretty good match to the rear suspension compression rate so the bike feels really balaned. ordered wheels this morning. If there was one thing I wish Foes would do was have built it in 197 rear rather than 177. It really limited my choices, and I nearly ordered everything to build my own wheels but there's more to that then the rest of the bike (factoring spoke length, then finding enough of the same spokes was giving me anxiety). Boreales has carbon heds with 177 rear hubs. Tires have to come from r-2 bike in Germany. seems no one else has 4.4 JJ's. or I use the ones off my other bike |

Few rides in on the foes.
Attached File What a bike. Super smooth, the coil really sucks up the small stuff and feels great on the g outs. The fork is fantastic. The air chamber tuning makes it very predictable but still need to get the dampening just right. Think I might play with a progressive coil spring though, I have to lock it on climbs or I just bounce away all my energy The dvo coil does lock up well. |

Fat bikes have their place but i hope they die a retail death. Of course I also hate 29ers.
Sooooooo I’m a dinosaur |

They're a blast and truly are a go anywhere bikes. If I could only have one bike, it would be a fat bike. |

If you just ride dirt, be it rocky, sandy, snowy, loose, hard pack do yourself a favor and try one. There's a reason dirt bikes and 4WDs go wide and air down. |

There are many like it, but this one is mine.

Anybody know why Surly disco'd the Moonlander? It was the fastest fatbike in their lineup....too much of a good thing maybe? I know several with the Ice Cream Truck and they love them. They tell me it's the gold standard of fatties.
|
|
|
I don't think the ice cream truck is anywhere near the top anymore.
Didn't they weigh like 40+lbs. There are several great bikes depending on your riding style. I ride with a large group of fatbikers no one has a surly. |

I'm having a blast on this bike.

Took the fatty on an epic I would usually take my enduro on.
Attached File You start on one side, climb up to 12k feet, then ride down the other side, about 5,000ft down hill. Attached File 21 miles total. Attached File Attached File The big squishy fat bike did just fine. Though I has some reservations about some if the rock gardens and the carbon wheels I just was a bit more cautious about my lines and it was fine. And yeah, we got rained on big time. With less than a mile to go we got a torrential down pour. Attached File |

First snow ride of the season. Also first ride on a fatty in a while. Draggy, crusty, super high friction day old refrozen snow and ice. It was still a nice day for an after work quickie.

Xmas to myself.
Attached File 150/177mm i9 hubs. Hens teeth. They're doing a 150/197 run currently but I doubt 177 will ever be made again. They've been laced up, but I don't think they were ever ridden. Too clean doesn't look like rotors were ever bolted on. |

Come along for a ride in the desert nice vid to get through these cold winter days... the sun is on the flip side and the days get longer from here on out. |

Will probably be around 27lbs done. We got a bit of snow on weds that made the dirt hero level yesterday. It was cloudy but like 50f. |

I am in most of them but the couple who built the trails are the videographers. Give them a subscribe and thumbs up, they are super cool people. No babbling and bs, just cool vids of awesome trails. I just want to share them... it's really so different and lucky place to be able to ride. |

My Karate Monkey frameset is in the other room and I've thought about building it back up with 27.5 and still might do so, if my riding plans this summer go well. |

Nice bikes, I have seen a few like those living here.
. I thought that this was going to be a midcap or one of the dozen other |

Finally got my Mutz back in action. Rebuilt rear wheel and fork, new brakes. I forgot how well this thing rides. Few more tweaks and another rear wheel rebuild and I'm good for the season.

Must've missed it elsewhere, fat CAAD? My first Fatbike had an old lefty for a while, built on a Mendon adapter. It was pretty cool, wish I kept the fork. Waiting for replacement wheel for my foes. If i ever come across a "lefty for all" kit im going to buy it and use the fork to build a super light carbon single speed fatty. Very under-rated fork. Smooth and consistent. I just wish it had more travel. Your custom old school fatty was awesome. |

Nice to have another wheelset always ready with studs now, though I sorta think I want a 5" studded tire... Which means I'll need another wheelset.

Nexties are good quality for cost.
It does take a while to get them though.. |
