well, she's not actually firing anything, so no. (no magazine on the rifle) but yeah, buy a kit from bob. bob is the shizzle. |

Well I'm glad I wasn't waiting on you for any real information! I've already got my kit and as soon as I get my GT receiver, it's all off to Blackwell for assembly.

Here's the latest in Polish AK's - The EB manufactured Beryl 5.56mm.
Photos are of the full size Beryl and the Mini-Beryl. http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b348/bravo551/NewBeryl2.jpg http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b348/bravo551/NewBeryl4.jpg http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b348/bravo551/DSCN1573.jpg This is probably the heaviest 5.56mm rifle in the world! All the rails and accessories are steel, not aluminum. |

I see there's only one takedown switch for the front handguards now.

The kit has the original finish and the receiver is just parkerized. I refinished the wood with Minwax Polystains bombay mahogany. |

Man Travis........that's friggin' gorgeous! I wish my Tantal kit's handguards were NEW like those! Nice rifle! How's she shoot??

5.45 shoots like a dream - this one is no exception. I put a g2 FCG in her- wish I would of gone with RSA like my other builds. there is no substitiution for an RSA fcg. lesson learned. |

It's not too late to do it though, is it. Beautiful rifle, btw |

Nice. Did you have any problems with Military Gun Supply? |
||

Glen sure does build a nice gun. I'm waiting on mine as well and a Yugo underfolder too. Glen has built me 10 FAL's and 10 AK's. Nobody better at it then him. Chris |

I just watched Nicholas Cage in 'LORD OF WAR' last night ---
I'm officially back on my annual kick to get an AK. I've done this for several years, finally settling on the Polish Underfolder style. Wish I hadn't traded off my Chinese 75-rd. drum... Now, all I need to do is figure out how to make this po$$ible! Nice guns, Guys! |

what'd you use for US parts? It looks like you were able to keep the original PG. I bought an American PG from TDR and it sucks... I should trade it for a slant brake... it looks like newer wood... what'd you finish your receiver in? |

Yep, the wood is new. I got it from laukart (the guy in Poland). US parts I used were: FCG = 3 Receiver = 1 US Gas Piston = 1 US slant brake = 1 The entire rifle was sandblasted, parked with Jasco Prep & Primer and then sprayed and baked with Norrell's semi-gloss MolyResin. |
|||
|
I haven't been able to find Jasco but bought Naval Jelly instead. Still haven't figured out how to park with the NJ.
I removed all of the nice Grade "A" black finish with carb spray yesterday and today. What bullshit. This is proof that AKs were never meant to be cleaned with anything stronger than SPIT!!! |

The finish is supposed to be Duracoat - I ordered the gun from MGS and a local dealer did the transfer. It seems pretty tough on the receiver, but seems to scratch easily on the barrel for some reason. |
|||
|
probably because of the machining marks on the barrel...

Don't get anything stronger than CLP on your finish or you'll be redoing it all!
I ordered a grade A from Dan's old partner and found out I wasted my money when I used carb cleaner to try and degrease the gas tube. I ended up with purple ink everywhere... It's all completely stripped now and as soon as I get a jar adapter for the airbrush, it will all be redone in DC matte black but I will add a little extra hardener to get a light sheen and strengthen it... |

I already used Stoddard solvent from my parts cleaning tank, foaming bore cleaner, and Brake-Kleen to clean it with and it didn't harm the finish or even dull it. I guess I got one that has some good finish on it. My other one I'm going to parkerize the whole rifle and not paint over it, just for something different.

DEMUSN1917 : That's the look I'm after on my next one. Looks great!! I've got another Grade A kit from Dan's that I'm going to use.

My 2nd build
Ak-builder.com flat G2 FCG with backroom 2 stage trigger job (pretty nice) RSA gas piston US slant brake First attempt at bead blasting & Duracoating was on this rec/triggerguard. The rest of it is pretty much as it came from Dan's. I did notch the safety selector to go with my modified bolt hold-open mags. I don't like "click" when I want "boom". The Bulgarian sidefolder drop case works perfect for an underfolder. Blue sling is East German I think. Not sure where I got it, just ended up in my misc pile of crap. You can tell we're in a drought here in Bama, huh? |
|

I need a bigger safe.

Tapeo1- How do you park with JASCO? Again very nice. |
