We kicked off the training season for 2024 where we closed out last year, at The Clinton House Plantation in Clinton South Carolina with a Try Before You Buy and a sold out Nightfighter 101.
The Clinton House is a superb place to train, and on-site lodging is a huge bonus after a long day (NIGHT!) of training. The team there are world class hosts and we look forward to returning in the fall. Additionally, The Clinton House can fill about all of your firearms training needs from sporting clays to tower hunts to long range precision rifle offerings. They are definitely worth a look.
Weather was great…a little on the cold side, but we’ll take cold and dry over cold and wet any day. One student noted “there is no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing choices”, this is very true. Preparing for class (packing list, weather checks, reading welcome letter) can help you stay warm and dry.
We see a wide assortment of goggles in class and this class was no different. From “just a green PVS-14” (more on that) to super tube white phosphor BNVDs. Night vision is the only superpower you can purchase and strap on…seeing in the dark is a superpower…and the AN/PVS-14 gives you that superpower. Remember, match your requirements to your budget and let that be your guide.
We had zero issues with night vision equipment during the class.
Little to no firearms issues were experienced, although a couple rifles started to get awfully scratchy by the end of each evening. Lube your rifles! A lot…like, if you think you have enough on there, add some more. The AR family (and really all service rifles) are designed to run wet…a dry gun will lead to multiple malfunctions which can turn your focus from learning to fighting malfunctions all the time. This is particularly exacerbated with suppressors…in short, run your guns wet.
It is particularly rewarding to see students start to groove with technology and apply different solutions to problems presented. While a lot of the technology we use in class is on the end of a gun (light, MFAL, etc.), the goal of our classes is to become competent, confident and capable in the deciding which technology to use and then solving a given problem. This group of motivated students did exactly that.
We have some seats remaining in our Spring and Fall 2024 catalog, and we’ll be back here for a Fall 2024 class...head on over to TNVC.com and grab a seat.
Many industry friends step up to offer students giveaways, door prizes and swag to our students. We greatly appreciate their generosity and are proud to have them associated with our training program and proud to call them friends.
